Woman shot by SAPD officer after waving gun on Northwest Side, chief says

  

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer shot a woman after she pointed a gun at them on the Northwest Side, according to SAPD Chief William McManus.

The incident occurred before 6 p.m. Thursday on Medical Drive near Babcock Road. McManus said officers received a call for a suspicious person waving around a gun.

When responding officers arrived, they found a woman with a gun. When they approached her, she pointed the weapon at them and an officer shot at her, hitting her in the abdomen, McManus said.

McManus added the woman was transported to the hospital and is currently in surgery.

At this time, the woman’s identity is unknown and the charges she may face are pending.
