Deputies search for driver involved in critical hit-and-run in Dallas County

DALLAS COUNTY, Texas — The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the driver of a black pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run last week.

The crash happened on Sept. 14 around 2:53 a.m. at westbound I-20 and Highway 67, the department said in a news release.

Deputies said the preliminary investigation revealed the victim was standing outside of his vehicle when it was sideswiped. The driver of a black Dodge Ram pickup struck the victim and kept going.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition, police said.

The hit-and-run driver is described as a Black man in his 20s-30s, thin build and about six feet tall.  At the time of the accident, he was wearing a white tank top, blue shorts and dark-colored ball cap.

The Vehicle Crimes Unit detectives are searching for the 2015 black Dodge Ram pickup with damage on the passenger side door. They also said the door could be missing due to the impact of the crash.
