14-year-old boy drowns in Lewisville Lake at Copperas Branch Park, officials say

 

According to the city of Highland Village, the boy was found nearly two hours after he went missing.

HIGHLAND VILLAGE, Texas — A 14-year-old Duncanville boy drowned in Lewisville Lake at Copperas Branch Park on Saturday afternoon. 

According to a news release from the city of Highland Village, dispatch was notified around 3:06 p.m. that the teen went missing while swimming with his family. He reportedly went under and didn’t resurface, the city said. 

The city said the Highland Village Fire Department Dive Team, Police Department, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden responded and began a search. 

According to the city, the teen was found dead around 5 p.m.

The Medical Examiner’s office is investigating the incident, according to the city.
