MESQUITE, Texas — Two carjacking suspects were still wanted Friday morning after a chase and police shooting following an incident in Mesquite, officials said.
The incident started shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday at the Watermark Apartments in the 2600 block of John West Road in Mesquite, police said.
Officers got a call about a carjacking and the caller said two armed men had just stolen his car. About an hour later, a Mesquite police officer saw the car in the area and tried to stop them, police said.
The suspects led police on a brief chase into Dallas and ended up crashing at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of John West Road, police said.
Officials at a news conference said an officer “perceived a threat” and fired his weapon but “we don’t have anything at this time to indicate that the suspect was hit.”
The suspects were still at-large later Friday morning. Since the officer-involved shooting happened in Dallas, the Dallas Police Department is handling that element of the investigation, Mesquite police said.
