Shock Poll in NYC Is Historically Bad for Kamala Harris

Could it be that the people in New York City are finally getting tired of Democrats?

Well, maybe a little bit. At least now, there’s evidence afoot of something pretty remarkable and moving in the right direction in the deep blue city. Perhaps it explains why former President Donald Trump will be there, holding a rally at Madison Square Garden, on Sunday.

In 2020, Joe Biden was up on Trump by 53 points, as one might expect in such a leftist stronghold, 76 to 23 percent

But fast forward to 2024, it’s Kamala Harris in play and the gap has narrowed considerably. There’s been a gain by Trump, as well as a major decline for Harris:

Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris still leads Trump 66%-27% among likely voters in the upcoming presidential election, but her numbers are about 10 percentage points below President Biden’s Big Apple haul when he defeated Trump in 2020.

If the numbers holds, it would represent the worst showing for a Democratic presidential candidate in the Big Apple since 1988, according to The New York Times.

So, that means Trump picked up 14 points and, as the report notes, that’s the worst showing for Democrats in decades.

Trump did even better with registered voters (with leaners) — that was 59 to 31.

Translation? Kamala Harris is a lousy candidate, and just maybe, they’re tired of all the nonsense from Democrats.

They also indicated in the same poll, that on the groups of choices for mayor, the biggest numbers were for the folks who didn’t want to vote for any of the Democratic choices.

More broadly in the Empire state, one of the reasons the GOP took back the House was that the Democrats lost seats in New York.

The Democrats’ struggle for House control in the midterms arguably ran through New York, with the party losing four seats, including several in Democratic-leaning districts.

Trump has made national gains among Black, Hispanic and younger voters, and he is seeking to tap into this demographic with his rally on Sunday.

Now, Trump’s not likely to win New York, but all this movement will help push down the popular vote, and support for the Democrats’ down-ballot candidates, to help ensure we lock up the House as well.
