2 killed in North Texas home explosion, fire officials say

 

Two people, a man and woman in their 60s, died in the explosion near Van Alstyne, officials said.

VAN ALSTYNE, Texas — Two people died in a home explosion that was possibly related to propane in the Van Alstyne area on Monday morning, officials said.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Stone Marshell Road, northeast of Van Alstyne, according to fire officials. Van Alstyne is about 50 miles northeast of Dallas.

Two people, a man and woman in their 60s, died in the explosion, officials said. Their names have not been released.

Officials said they are investigating if a possible propane leak was the cause of the explosion. The Railroad Commission of Texas confirmed that an inspector was sent to the scene of the explosion “to investigate a potential propane-related explosion at the house.”
