I switched from a Mac to a PC. My Mac was seven years old, and I didn’t want to spend two grand on a computer. Most of my applications are subscriptions, so there wasn’t much of a money hit for apps.

Why am I telling you this? I am now buried in garbage ads and clickbait “articles.” Microsoft’s “Edge” browser, it seems, is intent on overloading me with hot takes from Ireland to India. Edge has an endless stream of reminders and a constant stream of headline popups from CNN and MSNBC. I saw one informing me that troops were on alert in the Northwest, ready for election riots. I clicked — not to read for substance but to see how long it took for CNN to connect the inevitable “election interference/violence” headline to Trump. It was there; it just took longer than usual.
The headline read: “National Guard troops on standby in Washington state, Oregon and Nevada as a precaution for ‘potential’ election unrest.”
The lede seemed serious:
Ahead of potential civil unrest due to Tuesday’s presidential election, the National Guard is on standby as a precaution in several states, including Washington state and Oregon, where hundreds of ballots were damaged or destroyed after at least three ballot drop boxes were recently set on fire, officials say.”
Goodness. Several states. Where, what, and how and when, CNN? It turns out there were a total of three boxes. All three were in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. If you are not familiar with the area, those two cities are in separate states but for locals, it’s the same metropolis. My ex-sister-in-law told me she was from “Portland.” Their home was in Vancouver.

BREAKING: Hundreds of Ballots Go Up in Flames As Drop-Off Boxes in PNW Are Targeted With Explosives
The “news” was that a nut had set fire to three boxes. With Portland being a heavily leftist city (that the red part of Oregon pretty much hates), the implication is the perp might be Donald Trump or maybe Don Jr., but certainly a MAGA hat-wearing, bleach bottle-carrying guy, probably two of them, yelling “this is MAGA country!”
Ok, maybe not them, but it has to be Republicans, right? Washington’s and Oregon’s Democrat Governors have put the troops on alert. CNN tells us that in Nevada, there are 60 troops on standby.
In Washington D.C., cops are on 12 hours shifts in preparation for the election and potential violence. What violence, and by whom? There it was — the tie-in to Trump.
To ensure security, police chiefs across the United States are making unprecedented plans for Election Day and the weeks that follow. The issue has become pressing for law enforcement since the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the US Capitol that delayed certification of the last presidential election.

Political violence was brought to Washington, D.C. on inauguration day 2017, when leftists rioted in the streets, burning cars and injuring people. Over 200 people were arrested. To my knowledge none of them spent years in solitary confinement.
Anti-Trump protests also broke out Friday in US cities, including New York, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago and Portland, Oregon. Authorities in Seattle say one person was in critical condition at a hospital with a gunshot wound. Demonstrations also took place overseas in Hong Kong, Berlin and London.
In Washington, Newsham told CNN the several hundred demonstrators who actively confronted police were vastly outnumbered by the thousands of nonviolent protesters who swarmed the nation’s capital for Inauguration Day and Saturday’s Women’s March on Washington.
CNN’s reporter tweeted — “actions of a few,” which is reminiscent of the “mostly peaceful protests” as cities burned.
The left has a very short memory when it comes to its political violence and its refusal to accept election results. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has refused to say he will certify a Trump win. He recently poured gasoline on his stupidity.

Will there be blood if Trump wins? Undoubtedly. There will be rioters organizing and turning out on election day and the days that follow. We saw riots in 2017, and that was well before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were calling Trump a threat to democracy and a Nazi. Trump’s 2025 inauguration will be a flashpoint, and, in my opinion, the riots of January 20, 2017, will pale in comparison to the riots of 2024/2025.
Buckle up. The nation will need more than 60 troops.
