Programming note: ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ ‘Vegas Lights & Country Nights: Countdown to the CMA Awards’ to air overnight due to Mavs-Pelicans

The Dallas Mavericks’ Tuesday night matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans will tip off at 7:30 p.m. on WFAA following a 7 p.m. pregame show.

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks and WFAA’s parent company TEGNA announced in September a multi-year media rights agreement that will make WFAA the team’s official local broadcast partner.

Under the new deal, all non-nationally televised Mavericks games – 70 or more this upcoming season – will be broadcast for free over-the-air on either WFAA (Ch. 8) or the TEGNA-owned KFAA (Ch. 29).

Of the 70 games mentioned above, 15 or more will be simulcast on WFAA (Ch. 8). Tuesday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans is one of those 15 simulcasted games on WFAA.

As a result, “Dancing with the Stars” and “Vegas Lights & Country Nights: Countdown to the CMA Awards – A Special Edition of 20/20” will not air in their regularly scheduled timeslots on WFAA. Those programs will re-air overnight on WFAA, at 1:11 a.m. and 3:12 a.m., respectively.

All of these shows will also be available for streaming live on Hulu starting on Wednesday morning.
