Child in critical condition after being shot in Dallas, police say

 

Police said the shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. Friday evening.

DALLAS — A child is in the hospital after being shot by an unknown suspect Friday night, police s aid. 

According to the Dallas Police Department, officers responded to the 3500 block of Wilhurt Avenue around 8:20 p.m. to the report of a shooting. 

Police said officers determined the child was shot by an “unknown suspect.”

Sources told WFAA the shooting may have stemmed from a possible road rage incident in which people in two cars were shooting at each other. 

According to police, Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded to the scene and took the child to a local hospital where they are in critical condition. 

No other details surrounding any suspects were immediately released. 

Dallas PD said this is an ongoing investigation.
