All customers should boil their water before consumption, the city of Ennis announced Sunday
ENNIS, Texas — The city of Ennis issued a boil water notice Sunday after a water main break caused the city’s water system to lose pressure, the city announced in a social media post.
All customers should boil their water before consumption, the city of Ennis announced. An 18-inch water main broke Saturday, Nov 30, and the city is still working to repair the water main. Some customers were completely without water Sunday, the city said in a social media post.
Water used for drinking, cooking and ice-making should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes and cooled prior to use, the city said. Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers, the city said.
Ennis Independent School District announced it will cancel classes Monday, Dec 2 due to the boil water notice in a social media post Sunday.
The city will hold a water distribution event at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec 1 at Fire Station No. 1, 1700 West Lake Bardwell Drive, the city said. Residents will be limited to picking up one case of water per car.
“If you have running water please boil and use your water to save bottled water for the portion of the city that is completely without,” city officials wrote in a statement on social media.
