Wildlife in Focus (WIF) is taking its highly acclaimed photo contest statewide in 2025, offering a record $40,000 in prize packages to recognize outstanding photographers. Previously limited to select counties, this 20-year-old competition is now open to participants across Texas.
The contest aims to support wildlife habitat conservation and showcase the beauty of Texas’ native landscapes and wildlife. Winning photographs will be featured in a coffee table book and used in WIF’s K-8 educational outreach initiatives.
“We’re really excited about expanding our reach and celebrating wildlife conservation across Texas,” said WIF Photo Contest Director Miles Phillips. “We’re also adding a videography category in 2025.”
To participate, photographers must partner with landowners, and advance registration is required. Registration is now open at wildlifeinfocus.org and closes on February 1, 2025. Teams can either form independently or with assistance from WIF.
The contest will run from February 21 to May 31, 2025. During this period, photographers will create diverse portfolios to compete in 50 different categories, with submissions judged by a panel of professional photographers.
Beyond the competition, this event highlights the value of private land stewardship and the growing trend of sustainable nature photography tourism in Texas. Whether participants aim to win prizes, refine their craft, or connect with the conservation community, this contest provides a meaningful way to engage with nature.
