Where Texas football stands in the national recruiting rankings

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas football received two near-National Signing Day commitments that boosted the Longhorns to the top of the team rankings for some national recruiting services.

On Tuesday, Hightower High School safety Kade Phillips flipped his commitment from LSU to Texas. Phillips, who was previously in Texas’ 2025 class but spent the last few months committed to LSU, is considered a top 50 player in the country by recruiting experts.

On National Signing Day, Alamo Heights receiver Michael Terry III announced his pledge to the Longhorns. Ranked as the No. 1 Athlete in the country by 247 Sports, Terry chose Texas over Nebraska and Oregon on Wednesday morning.

The Longhorns are still pursuing several highly touted players who have not announced their commitment yet.
