AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 10 Notre Dame outscored No. 4 Texas 12-2 in overtime to claim an 80-70 win Thursday during the SEC-ACC Challenge at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana.
Texas point guard Rori Harmon hit a pair of foul shots with a second left in regulation to send the game to the extra period, but after the Longhorns scored overtime’s first bucket, the Fighting Irish ended on a 12-0 run. Notre Dame played six players in the game and four logged more than 40 minutes.
Notre Dame racked up 16 steals to help force 23 Texas turnovers and was nearly perfect from the foul line, sinking 16 of 17 attempts. Texas was 8-for-11.
The Longhorns dominated the boards, outrebounding the Irish 46-37 including 19-8 on the offensive end, but couldn’t overcome the 30-point night from Irish sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo. She shot 11-for-20 with three 3-pointers and chipped in eight rebounds. Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron each scored 18 while Liatu King notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Madison Booker scored 20 points but had a tough night from the floor, shooting 7 for 21. She also had eight rebounds and five assists. Shay Holle connected on four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and Kyla Oldacre scored 13 points with eight rebounds. She scored Texas’ lone basket in overtime.

Texas shot 37% (27-73) while Notre Dame connected on 44% of its shots (28-63). Notre Dame held a 34-24 advantage in paint points and 24-15 in points off turnovers.
Texas (7-1) has another road game Sunday against James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia. They return home Dec. 11 against Southern. Notre Dame (6-2) is on the road Sunday at Syracuse.
