On Thursday, Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams held a press conference to describe his meeting with incoming border czar, Tom “The Hammer” Homan, and to answer questions on that meeting. Some of Mayor Adams’ replies indicated that he is one of the more sensible Democrats on this issue.

Granted that’s not setting the bar very high. But Adams is, perhaps, showing the beginning signs of being redpilled.
In one excerpt, he described a shocking number of illegal immigrant children who we cannot locate:
Adams said:
We have 500,000 children who have sponsors in this country that we cannot find. We can’t find them. We don’t know if they’re doing child labor, we don’t know if they’re doing sex crimes, we don’t know if they’re being exploited, of 500,000 children. There’s a level of hypocrisy that everyone that (sic) states “We want to protect everyone” but innocent individuals who are victims of crimes and children.
He continued:
I want to….support and protect children, and innocent people who are victims of crime. And those who don’t understand that, it’s not up to me to try to convince them. I know what my job is, what my goal is, and I was clear on that when I was running and when I became Mayor. Safety is everything to me. 500,000 children, we don’t know where they are right now.

Mayor Adams also announced his intention to work with the incoming border czar, and indicated that he would be working only to remove illegal aliens who have committed crimes, although it was not clear whether he meant solely within the confines of New York City or also in the illegal immigrants’countries of origin.

At one point, Adams took an almost Trumpian shot at the assembled media:
Hizzoner said:
I’m going to answer a few questions. And, then I am leaving. It’s not going to matter what I respond to anyway, you have your preconceived thoughts already.
That statement has a nearly Republican ring to it.
While Mayor Adams clearly has some issues with the New York City press, it’s unlikely in the extreme that he will be changing his party affiliation. It’s difficult for any person with two IQ points to rub together to not be just a tad red-pilled on this matter, with half a million children whose whereabouts are unknown. But Adams, when describing the influx of illegal aliens into this city, still insists on the term “undocumented” when describing people who are in the country illegally; this is akin to describing a bank robbery as an “undocumented withdrawal,” so we shouldn’t expect to see him speaking at CPAC any time soon.

Still, at least on this issue, he’s a way out in front of most of his Democrat colleagues. It will be roundly interesting to see what, if anything, Tom “The Hammer” Homan has to say about this meeting.
