8 Longhorns score in double figures, Texas clobbers Arkansas-Pine Bluff 121-57

  

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Freshman Nic Codie poured in a game-high 20 points and Texas shot almost 60% from 3-point range in a 121-57 pounding of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in men’s NCAA basketball action Sunday at Moody Center.

The Longhorns ripped the nets from long distance, hitting 17 of 30 3-point attempts, and shooting 63% overall. Texas scored 36 points off of 22 Golden Lions turnovers and the Longhorns had 28 assists.

Eight players scored in double figures for the Longhorns. Codie shot 8 of 10 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers, and Jordan Pope chipped in 17 points with five 3-point buckets. Chendal Weaver and Kadin Shedrick each had 14 points, Arthur Kaluma scored 13, Julian Larry had 11 and Tramon Mark and Devon Pryor scored 10. Larry dished out 13 assists and Weaver had eight rebounds.

Texas led 66-26 at halftime and outrebounded the Golden Lions 41-23. The Longhorns had 14 steals and scored on 72% of their possessions.

Texas (9-2) hosts New Orleans at 7 p.m. Thursday.
