Six Flags Fiesta Texas to transform Goliath coaster into new Chupacabra ride

SAN ANTONIO – Six Flags Fiesta Texas is transforming its iconic steel-inverted Goliath roller coaster into the park’s latest attraction based on a legendary folklore creature known for its swift, unpredictable movements.

The park’s Chupacabra roller coaster blends mythology and thrills into a newly reimagined ride with immersive storytelling and design.

The park had teased for weeks on social media platforms that “something strange” was happening.

Fiesta Texas says the new ride experience will complement the Los Festivales area, known for its San Antonio-inspired architecture.

The new ride features “chilling details, including sculptures of the beast, ominous warnings, clawed footprints, and eerie soundscapes as (visitors) enter the themed courtyard and queue area.”

While the ride’s signature features remain the same, the Chupacabra’s agility inspires the enhanced elements.

More thematic elements will be introduced in later months, Fiesta Texas said.

The park said highlights include the following:

  • “A full vertical loop, offering a high-adrenaline opening inversion.
  • “A zero-G roll, creating a weightless glide through the air.
  • “A DNA-helix spiral with rapid twists and turns evoking the creature’s elusive movements.
  • “A corkscrew double-helix, featuring two tightly packed inversions.
  • “Banked turns and barrel rolls, flipping perspectives in dynamic maneuvers.”

The park’s social media channels say the ride is coming soon, though an open date was not immediately available.
