DALLAS — Dallas Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire on the evening of Christmas Eve, which resulted in the death of one man, officials say.

Units were assigned to the incident at about 5:47 p.m. Tuesday after multiple calls about the fire at a complex at 5320 Cedar Springs Road.

Upon arrival, officials say firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the first floor of the two-story apartment building. They managed to extinguish the fire in the kitchen of the apartment and found the victim afterward unresponsive in another room with what appeared to be multiple burn injuries.

Medics began life-saving measures on the victim before taking him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen but the cause is unknown, officials said. No other injuries were reported. The incident is still under investigation.
