Longtime Christian radio station in DFW has been sold, report says

KLTY-FM (94.9) will be taken over by EMF — the parent organization of Christian radio networks Air1 and K-LOVE.

WACO, Texas — Dallas-Fort Worth Christian radio station KLTY-FM (94.9) has been sold by its parent company as part of an $80 million deal, according to reports.

Salem Media Group sold its seven remaining Contemporary Christian-formatted radio stations – including KLTY – to the Educational Media Foundation (EMF) in the deal, Billboard reported

EMF is the parent organization that runs Christian radio networks Air1 and K-LOVE, and the company intends to launch K-LOVE or Air1 Worship Now programming on the seven signals it acquired according to market needs, pending FCC approval.

In a statement, Salem Media Group’s executive chairman/co-founder, Edward G. Atsinger said the decision to sell was made “in order to pay off all of Salem’s long-term debt.”

“We could not be more delighted that the buyer is EMF,” Atsinger continued. “EMF has demonstrated over many years a unique ability and dedication to creating and distributing the highest quality Christian music content to its listeners in a positive and encouraging way. I am confident that their impact on listeners and their communities will be incredibly effective.”

According to Billboard, the new programming is expected to begin on Feb. 1.
