DALLAS — High-profile professional athletes, including the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Dončić and the Stars’ Tyler Seguin, have been the targets of thieves in recent months.
Among the recent thefts, nearly $40,000 worth of items were stolen from Dak Prescott’s fiancée, Sarah Ramos’ car, which she’d forgotten to lock, the day after Christmas, according to a police report. According to the report, the items, which included designer handbags, wallets and more.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott Wednesday spoke about the recent burglaries.
Prescott acknowledged the fame that comes with being a professional athlete can make them targets.
“You weigh the good with the bad. You understand that, as I said, who we are, what we are subject to that others can look up and just see how much we make or maybe an address that puts us subject to a target,” Prescott said. “It’s unfortunate, but we have to take it and do what’s necessary to protect us and our family.”
Dallas police also confirmed to WFAA that they’re investigating after Luka Dončić’s home was broken into shortly after Christmas and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry was taken.
Thousands of dollar’s worth of watches were stolen from Seguin’s home back in November as he was playing a home game at the American Airlines Center, police sources confirmed to WFAA.

Security expert Doug Deaton said the thieves targeting these athletes are professional thieves.
