An Arctic Cold front Sunday will usher in the coldest air of the season.
DALLAS — Monday morning brings a WFAA Weather Alert Day.
This is because wind chill values will be as cold as 9° along the Red River & up to 15° everywhere else early Monday. Make sure if you’re headed out Monday morning to dress in layers! And don’t forget the “4 Ps!” People. Pets. Pipes. Plants.
WHEN
Monday morning (6AM – 11AM)
The time for the absolute coldest air and strongest winds to coincide and bring the harshest wind chills will be Monday morning just before sunrise. With wind gusts up to 35MPH from the north and temperatures in the low to middle 20s, it will be dangerously cold for anyone headed out to work or ESPECIALLY for the kiddos waiting outside for a school bus.
IMPACT
The coldest air of the season and dangerous wind chills… With winds up to 35MPH at times, the “feels like” temperatures or the wind chill will drop to 9°-15°.
The wind chill is a factor because the wind more easily takes the heat away from your body making it feel colder than it actually is.
NEED
The “4 Ps!” People. Pets. Pipes. Plants.
Now is the time to make sure you and your loved ones have a place and a way to stay warm during this cold snap. Same with your furry friends!
You also have time to make sure your pipes are properly protected. While this cold is not expected to be “pipe bursting,” because we anticipate getting above freezing each day, it’s best to just get things tidied up to be safe. And don’t forget to turn off your sprinklers!
