53-year-old killed in auto-pedestrian accident, police say

 

A 53-year-old man died after being hit on Pioneer Parkway in Arlington, police said.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A man died after he was hit while crossing Pioneer Parkway in Arlington Monday, police said. 

Officers responded to reports of a crash around 6:38 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the 2000 block E. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington police said in a press release. Police found a 53-year-old man lying unresponsive in the roadway, according to the release. 

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said. 

The driver who hit the man remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Investigators do not believe the driver was speeding or intoxicated and they are not facing criminal charges in connection with the incident, police said. 

Investigators found that the pedestrian was not using a designated crosswalk and he was in the roadway when he was hit, police said.
