FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas midfielder Bernard Kamungo has signed a three-year contract extension with club options for 2027 and 2028, the team announced Tuesday.
Kamungo, a Tanzania native, moved to Texas in 2016 and joined the FC Dallas affiliate team, North Texas SC, in 2021. He was called up to the FC Dallas senior team in 2022. At the time, Kamungo had signed a four-year deal.
In his FC Dallas career, Kamungo has played in 46 games, starting 19, and scored six goals. He’s dished out three assists, as well. He got most of his playing time last season, where he played in 29 games, starting 13 of those.
Kamungo was ranked No. 19 on Major League Soccer’s 2023 22 Under 22 list, which honors the top young players in the league.
FC Dallas said Kamungo will not occupy an international roster spot, having obtained U.S. citizenship in May 2022.
