Fort Worth police officers shoot, hospitalize man during domestic disturbance call, officials say

 

Police were responding to a call of an intoxicated man shooting a firearm inside his home, FWPD said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man was hospitalized Thursday night after Fort Worth police officers shot him while responding to a domestic disturbance call, the department said.

According to Fort Worth PD, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call around 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the 5600 block of Seafield Lane. Police said the call reported a man who was intoxicated and firing off gunshots inside his home.

FWPD said when officers arrived, they tried to contact the man and heard multiple gunshots coming from inside the home.

Police said the man then exited the home and started to fire his weapon at officers, and officers returned fire, hitting the man. FWPD said officers rendered aid, and the man was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

No officers were hurt during the incident, Fort Worth PD confirmed. The department said its major case unit has been notified and will investigate.
