ARLINGTON, Texas (KXAN) — The Texas Longhorns needed one yard to tie Ohio State late in the fourth quarter in the College Football Playoff semifinals, but they couldn’t get it.
Not only did the Buckeyes keep them out of the end zone after having first-and-goal from the 1-yard line, but on fourth-and-goal from the 8-yard line, Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer forced Texas’ Quinn Ewers to fumble. Then Sawyer set a CFP and Cotton Bowl Classic record with an 83-yard return touchdown to ice a 28-14 Friday at AT&T Stadium . Ohio State will play Notre Dame in the national championship game Jan. 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
