The sons of Kevin Von Erich won the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship on an AEW show in Arlington last summer.
DALLAS — Ross and Marshall Von Erich, the sons of legendary Texas wrestler Kevin Von Erich, have seen a great deal of success since moving back to the Lone Star State, including winning championship gold in All Elite Wrestling. And now, they’re officially signed with AEW.
The brothers confirmed the signing on the first episode of their new podcast, The Claw Pod.
“There’s a lot of people that don’t know, but this was a journey,” Marshall Von Erich said on the podcast. “We got a hint of what it was about maybe 12 years ago on a rooftop in Japan, but we did not know god was gonna take us this route, or how long it was gonna take. But today, on this day, we can officially say that Ross and Marshall Von Erich are officially signed with AEW…The 12 year journey, it’s not an expensive hobby anymore.”
Ross Von Erich said this is the kind of thing the two have been working toward their entire careers.
“We knew it would be on a big major scale, and this meets every parameter of that…it means a lot for the Von Erich family,” Ross Von Erich said on the podcast. “Not to kiss [AEW Owner Tony Khan’s] butt, but he kind of single-handedly is keeping the Von Erich name, the Von Erich dream alive for us at this point. He’s gonna have our loyalty forever because of that. More than anything, we’re just super excited, and this day we’ve dreamt about for so long, it’s finally here.”
The Von Erichs are the Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Dustin Rhodes in Ring of Honor, AEW’s sister promotion also owned by Khan. They won the belts on an AEW show, Battle of the Belts, at Esports Stadium in Arlington last summer. The Von Erichs have wrestled all over the state of Texas for AEW and ROH, and even in New York City and at Wembley Stadium in London.
Due to Marshall Von Erich suffering a torn pec, the brothers haven’t wrestled since September, but that may change soon, as Marshall also confirmed on the podcast that he has completely recovered from the injury.
The next time AEW will be in North Texas will be July 12, and it’ll be big, as the show All In: Texas will be at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The Von Erichs have a long history of wrestling in big stadiums around North Texas, and Ross and Marshall Von Erich may soon be able to be part of it.
