SAN ANTONIO – Portions of the San Antonio River Walk will be partially drained this week as crews conduct routine maintenance work, according to a city news release.
From Monday, Jan. 13, to Friday, Jan. 17, portions of the River Walk will be drained for crews to work.
However, crews will not be doing traditional cleaning or conducting large-scale clean-ups as in years past, the release said.
The main channel from Brooklyn Avenue to Houston Street will be fully drained, and crews will partially drain the river from Houston Street to Nueva Street.
Meanwhile, the Museum Reach portion of the river from Josephine Street to Brooklyn Street will be partially drained for the maintenance work.
The upper segment between I-35 and Josephine will have very little water in the main channel, while I-35 south to Brooklyn will retain a few feet of water throughout the week.
Work will not affect the “bustling areas” of the River Walk’s loop, and the Go Rio boat service will continue its operation, the release said.
No road closures are planned, according to the city.
