DALLAS — Sur La Table, a Seattle-based retailer that specializes in cookware and kitchen tool sales and also offers popular cooking classes, is closing its Dallas location on Cole Avenue near Knox Street later this month.
Located at 4525 Cole Avenue, the store will permanently close on Jan. 25, according to Sur La Table’s website.
The brand’s other Dallas location, found in Preston Hollow at Preston Royal at 6025 Royal Lane suite 150 will remain open, according to the Sur La Table website. So too will it’s other North Texas location, which is located at 1151 E. Southlake Boulevard in the Southlake shopping center Park Village.
Sur La Table maintains additional Texas locations at the River Oaks Shopping Center and City Centre in Houston, at Market Street at the Woodlands, at the Domain Northside shopping center in Austin and at the Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio.
Dallas County Appraisal District records show Sur La Table has had its store on Cole Avenue in Dallas since at least 1999.
The original Sur La Table first opened in Seattle’s Pike Place Market in 1972. Now, Sur La Table offers thousands of cooking classes per year, both at its stores and online, as well as other services like kitchen knife sharpening.
USA Today reported that Sur La Table filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and closed nearly half of its stores at that time amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of Sunday, everything offered at the Cole Avenue location was being sold at a 30 percent discount in advance of the location’s impending closure.
