SAN ANTONIO – The 38th-annual Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Celebration returns to the Alamo City next week.
San Antonio’s MLK March, which honors King’s life and legacy, is touted as the largest in the nation.

The march will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy, located at 3501 Martin Luther King Dr.
This year’s theme is “We Are the Dream … It Takes All of Us.”
If you plan to go, here’s a guide to what you need to know before heading out.
MLK Day:
Monday will start with an MLK pre-march worship service at 8 a.m. at 3501 Martin Luther King Dr, followed by the march.
The lineup for the march begins as early as 9 a.m.
Only marchers are allowed along the route, motorcycles, cars and other motor vehicles are not allowed.
The MLK Commemorative Program will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Pittman-Sullivan Park, located at 1101 Iowa Street.

VIA bus services:
Attendees can take advantage of the free VIA bus services to the march from 8-10 a.m. on Monday from the following two locations:

Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston Street (Lot 1)

St. Philip’s College, 1801 Martin Luther King Dr. (Lot 22, located at the intersection of Montana Street and South Mittman Street).
Passengers will be dropped off at MLK Drive, west of Upland Drive.
From noon to 3 p.m., buses will return passengers to their original pick-up locations. Participants may access return service at Pittman-Sullivan Park.
VIA will also have a tent at Pittman-Sullivan Park from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., near the YMCA Parking Lot, where the vintage Dreamliner bus will be parked for viewing.
Weather:
As of the latest forecast from the KSAT Weather Authority team, a strong cold front arriving Saturday will make for a noticeably colder Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
With a hard freeze possible by Monday morning, you’ll want to dress warm if participating in the march or any other outdoor activities.
