SEGUIN, Texas – The Seguin Police Department turned down online rumors of a potential serial killer in the city.
Seguin police said on Sunday there are posts on Facebook that are spreading fear and misinformation in the community.

“We want to clarify that this information is false. These posts are part of a scam or an attempt to spread fear and misinformation,” Seguin police said on social media .
Authorities ask community members to verify any suspicious claims directly with official sources.
“Please verify any alarming claims directly with trusted sources like the Seguin Police Department or official news outlets before sharing them. If you come across suspicious posts, report them to the platform and avoid engaging,” Seguin police said.
Community members can report any suspicious activity to Seguin police online.
