SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio woman shot by San Antonio police and accused of threatening officers had her case dismissed earlier this month.
Bexar County court records show Karen Martinez’s two charges of making a terroristic threat against a police officer were dropped on Jan. 10, citing “insufficient evidence.”

Jail records show Martinez, 30, was released from the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Jan. 11.
The original incident happened around 1:45 a.m. on Dec. 16, 2024, at a West Side home located in the 200 block of Loma Park Drive.
According to a Dec. 16, 2024, SAPD report, Martinez threatened multiple officers with a “blade-like object” and also threatened her own life before an SAPD officer shot her.
At the time, Martinez was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
On Dec. 28, 2024, and after a second confirmed update from police, KSAT obtained a case affidavit from an SAPD detective who wrote that Martinez claimed to have a gun and a knife on her.
However, the detective wrote that officers did not report finding a gun or knife in her possession at the scene.
Additionally, the affidavit stated that Martinez was shot twice by an SAPD officer instead of the one shot SAPD claimed in its Dec. 16, 2024, and Dec. 28, 2024 reports.
After receiving the affidavit and second SAPD update, KSAT reached out to San Antonio police for clarification twice on the discrepancies between the two emailed updates and the SAPD detective’s narrative written in the affidavit.
SAPD did not respond to KSAT’s questions in December 2024.
After records of Martinez’s case dismissal were made public, KSAT reached out to SAPD on Thursday night and has yet to hear back.
