While votes have not been finalized yet, the Guadalupe County Early Voting Ballot Board said Guerrero currently leads with 51 percentage points while Dusek is just trailing with 49 percentage points.
The winner will serve the remainder of the term, which expires in 2026.
Background
In the Dec. 14, 2024, Schertz election, no candidate in the race met the majority threshold of votes to win the seat.
Dusek earned 29 percent of the vote, which is more than the other four other candidates in the Dec. 14, 2024, race.
Guerrero came in second with 22 percent of the vote.
In September 2024, Tiffany Gibson, who won the seat in 2023, resigned from her Place 4 seat on the Schertz City Council due to health and family reasons.
Gibson’s resignation came after the deadline to file for the Nov. 5, 2024, election, prompting a special election on Dec. 14, 2024.
The special election has since led to a runoff election between Dusek and Guerrero set for Saturday.
