Texas bill proposes specialized license plates for Central Catholic High School alumni

SAN ANTONIO – Texas House Representative Philip Cortez filed a bill that would allow all Central Catholic High School alumni to have their own personalized license plates.

House Bill 791 would issue specialty plates that would include the words “With Loyal Hearts” on the bottom and the Central Catholic High School logo for alumni who want them.

Cortez said he filed House Bill 791 because of the long history between Central Catholic High School and San Antonio.

“Since 1852 (over 173 years), Central Catholic High School has been part of the city’s downtown fabric specializing in higher education,” Cortez said.

Cortez told KSAT that Central Catholic High School has successful alumni who give back to the San Antonio community. Those alumni include himself, City Manager Erik Walsh, City Attorney Andy Segovia, actor Nicholas Gonzalez, and Former US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros.

Additionally, Cortez serves on the State Legislature as an alumnus with State Senators Jose Menendez and Roland Gutierrez.

“With its vast, diverse network, I wanted to give Central Catholic High School alumni this distinction of a specialty license plate to highlight their presence in San Antonio and throughout Texas,” said Cortez.

If passed, House Bill 791 would take effect Sept. 1, 2025.
