Police said they got a call about the robbery around 6 a.m. Sunday on the 6600 block of Brentwood Stair Road.
FORT WORTH, Texas — An Arlington teenager is recovering after she said she was beaten, robbed and left on the side of the road.
Kayla Horne said the incident happened in the early morning hours on Sunday.
“I thought I was going to die,” Kayla said, recalling the terrifying experience.
The 18-year-old said she and another friend who is also 18, met with a group of people.
Horne said they started drinking and then went to an after-hours nightclub. She said she didn’t go in because she wasn’t old enough, so she stayed in the car. At one point, Horne said she started to feel sick and threw up in the car. When the group came back, Horne said they were upset.
“Out of nowhere, one of the girls punched me in my mouth and jaw,” she said. “Just kept getting beat on and beat on.”
Horne said the suspects stole her phone, money, and jewelry before pushing her out of the car and leaving her on the street.
Fort Worth police said they received a call about the robbery in the 6600 block of Brentwood Stair Road at around 6 a.m. Sunday.
“This could’ve happened to anybody,” Jessica Alexis, Horne’s aunt. “She could’ve been dead. We couldn’t have had her here today.”
Police said the suspects are facing charges of aggravated robbery, but Alexis wants more severe charges.
“I don’t know why they’re not getting charged with more because they tried to kill her,” she said.
As Horne’s facial wounds heal, the emotional scars and broken trust linger.
“Something needs to be done,” said Alexis.
