The merger will give Dallas Pets Alive! access to traditional shelter space, which will help serve pets looking for their forever homes.
DALLAS — Two organizations that help save animals’ lives in Dallas are merging.
Dallas Pets Alive! announced a merger with the Humane Society of Dallas County on Wednesday. Both organizations operate to help dogs, cats and other pets find their forever homes with a no-kill philosophy.
Dallas Pets Alive! has been mostly supported by volunteers, saving healthy and treatable pets at risk of euthanasia in local shelters and providing assistance to those who can no longer take care of their pets due to personal problems.
The merger will give Dallas Pets Alive! access to a traditional shelter space, giving animal lovers more opportunities to volunteer. According to a release, the merger will also allow both organizations to have a broader reach and optimize rescue initiatives.
To celebrate the move, Dallas Pets Alive! will host a community event with adoption and foster opportunities at the Humane Society of Dallas County from 10 a.m. to noon on March 1.
