An escaped inmate from Marion County, Alabama, was arrested at a Buc-ee’s parking lot in North Texas.
MELISSA, Texas — Sometimes beaver nuggets and fresh brisket can be hard to resist — even for an escaped inmate.
According to the Melissa Police Department, officers were alerted to the possibility of an escaped inmate in the area, and the suspect’s car was identified using Flock camera technology.
Officers then spotted the car in the parking lot of the Buc-ee’s in Melissa, just off U.S. 75, the department said.
MPD said the car then exited the parking lot, heading north on the frontage road where police initiated a traffic stop. The escaped inmate and the driver of the car, who had an active felony warrant for aiding the inmate’s escape, surrendered without incident, police said.
Both the inmate and the driver were taken to the Collin County Jail, where they await extradition back to Alabama.
