Officials arrest East Texas man in connection with hit-and-run that killed cyclist day before Thanksgiving

   

On Monday, Londedric Taylor, Sr., was arrested for collision involving death in connection with the crash.

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas man has been arrested in connection with the hit-and-run death of another man in Jacksonville the day before Thanksgiving in 2024.

On Nov. 27, Tayedrian Baker, 25, was traveling in the 1000 block of Austin St., on an electric bike when he was struck by an unknown vehicle around 9 p.m. Baker was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he later died. 

On Monday, Londedric Taylor, Sr., was arrested for collision involving death in connection with the crash. He was booked into the Cherokee County Jail on $25,000 bond, Jacksonville police confirmed. 

Baker was an organ donor and saved six lives following his passing.

Authorities said the vehicle that struck Baker left the scene, and investigators were asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle and driver. Detectives had been canvassing the area attempting to locate surveillance video, as well.
