This is Greg Abbott here, Governor of the great state of Texas!
Do you have a few minutes?
Thank you for signing up to be a part of my team. I wanted to take a moment and personally share my story with a true patriot like you.
I was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and was raised in Duncanville. Growing up, I was involved in various activities, including baseball, Boy Scouts, and track and field.
Education has always been very important to me, so I decided to further my education after high school. I went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.B.A. in finance. Later on, I earned a law degree from Vanderbilt University.
In 1981, I proposed to the love of my life, Cecilia, on the San Antonio Riverwalk, and we got married later that year. It was the best decision I’ve ever made!
Friend, everything changed in 1984. One day while I was out jogging, a tree fell on me and left me partially paralyzed. From that moment on, I knew my life would never be the same.
From my faith and my family, I gained strength during this difficult time. I learned to recognize that our lives are not defined by our challenges but by how we respond to them. And I chose not to let this accident break my spirit.
Instead, I turned to the Scripture passage James 1:12, which got me through the most difficult season of my life. I had faith in God and trusted in his plan for me.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” – James 1:12
Friend, during challenging moments in our lives, it’s important to remember what matters the most to us. For me, it’s my faith, my beautiful wife Cecilia, my amazing daughter Audrey, and of course, our three dogs, Peaches, Pancake, and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit!
I often say our lives are not defined by the obstacles we encounter but our response to those challenges. This rings true for our state and its people, too.
Currently, America is facing unprecedented challenges daily at the border and in our communities.
By making your voice heard, you will bolster our efforts to create more jobs and economic opportunities, educate the leaders of the next generation, protect individual liberties, restore parental rights in education, and secure the southern border in the face of federal inaction.
There’s a lot going on across our state daily, and I want to keep you updated every step of the way.
Here is how you can best stay up-to-date with our work to build the Texas of tomorrow:

Hi, this is Greg Abbott. Whether you were born in Texas, moved here yesterday, or are following along from afar, I’m glad you’re here.
If you didn’t know, a tree fell on me while I was out jogging in my 20s and left me paralyzed from the waist down. Supported by my family and faith, I pulled through that difficult time and recognized life is defined not by the challenges we face, but by how we respond to those challenges.
This rings true for our state and its people, too.
Texas has always been a land of freedom and opportunity. Since we won our independence as a sovereign nation in 1836, Texas has been the natural home for entrepreneurs, adventurers, pioneers, and leaders. My job as Governor of Texas is to defend the values that keep Texas #1! We are off to a great start.
Since I became Governor, Texas has added more than 2 million new jobs. We’re home to over 3 million small businesses that employ nearly half of all working Texans, and we’re #1 for Fortune 500 company headquarters. We’re also #1 for economic development, exports, and jobs created by Black business owners, Hispanic women business owners, and veteran women business owners.
In Texas, everyone can succeed.
My wife Cecilia, the first Hispanic First Lady of Texas, our daughter, Audrey, and I – plus our three Golden Retrievers, Peaches, Pancake, and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit – love this great state and are proud to call it home. My life is defined by public service, and I’m honored to continue to serve as your Governor.
