BREAKING NEWS: Matagorda County school districts increase security after social media threat

   

MATAGORDA COUNTY, Texas – Three school districts in Matagorda County are increasing security on campus after a “concerning threat” circulated on social media.

Bay City, Tidehaven and Palacios ISDs have released statements on their social media accounts acknowledging the threat. Each district said it is working with local authorities to increase security on campus Tuesday. Administrators stated there is no immediate danger and school will still proceed as usual. 

Details about the threat remain unclear.

As a reminder that any concerning posts should be reported to law enforcement and not shared on social media. Resharing could lead to criminal charges.
