Mavs fans are protesting the Luka Doncic trade by canceling season tickets, according to an email obtained by WFAA.
DALLAS — Mavs fans really aren’t messing around with this Luka Doncic trade.
Groups of fans gathered over the weekend to set up a memorial at the Dirk statue, which was torn down by Monday. One fan has started a GoFundMe to raise funds and buy billboards in the area expressing their displeasure with general manager Nico Harrison and the Adelson family. A Dallas brewery started a “sell the team” beer.
And some fans are demanding their money back. Social media was buzzing Tuesday about fans asking to cancel their season tickets and whether or not the team would provide refunds for the remaining games on the home schedule.
WFAA reached out to the Mavericks about potential refunds for fans and also if there will be any ticket pricing for season ticket holders next season, to which the team said:
Regarding tickets, no determination has been made about season ticket pricing for the 2025-26 Season. Season ticket members will hear from their reps over the next few weeks.
Regarding refunds, we value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions.
So, no across-the-board refund from the Mavericks, that we know of.
However, we did hear from at least one season ticket holder who asked for a ticket cancellation and will be getting a refund, according to an email correspondence between the ticket holder and a team employee.
The fan reached out to the Mavericks to cancel his season ticket membership, per the email thread. A Mavericks representative responded, asking if there were any way to work out continuing membership.
After the fan insisted on cancelling, the representative responded “if we go ahead and cancel the season membership, we will cancel all remaining home games for the remainder of the season starting with the 2/8 game vs. Houston.”
The representative also said the team would mail the fan a refund check as part of the cancellation.
The ticket rep also said the would need written confirmation from the fan to go ahead with the cancellation.
