Saint Valentine, an Old East Dallas bar appropriately named after the patron saint of love for this occasion, is kicking off Super Bowl Sunday with this deal.
DALLAS — A Dallas bar isn’t betting on the Chiefs or Eagles to win the Super Bowl — they’re betting on love.
Saint Valentine Bar, appropriately named after the patron saint of love, says if Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travie Kelce proposes to superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift after the Super Bowl, then any drinks on your tab from kickoff to when the game ends, will be free.
This is nothing new for Saint Valentine. They made the same bet last year (and won).
The bar’s owner, Gabe Sanchez, told WFAA on the phone last year that he wanted to kick off Valentine’s week with a fun experience and provide an environment to engage both die-hard NFL fans and more casual football fans, who may be watching the game because Swift is there cheering on her boyfriend.
“I love [their relationship],” Sanchez said. “It’s so much fun. Instead of being like ‘no that’s stupid,’ let’s have fun with it.”
Sanchez said he enjoys the fact that their relationship has brought more people together to watch the NFL who typically don’t co-exist. He said if Kelce were to drop on a knee and take the next step in his relationship with Swift, they’re more than happy to buy everyone’s drinks to celebrate.
Sanchez said he loves all the other Super Bowl prop bets surrounding Kelce and Swift, such as what lipstick color Swift will wear, whether they will kiss on the field after the game or not or how many times will Swift be shown on the broadcast.
We’ll see if Kelce wins a ring (or two) tonight, but in case the past repeats itself, you should limit your drinks to what you can afford.
