The pop superstar and NFL champion have made headlines since making their relationship public in 2023.
WASHINGTON — By now, it’s no surprise to see Taylor Swift in a suite at a Kansas City Chiefs game. The pop star went public with her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in October 2023.
Here’s how the superstar couple first connected.
How did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce meet?
According to People, the first interaction between the two happened after Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023.
Kelce explained on his New Heights podcast that he made a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it and attempted to meet Swift, but her security guard told him she wasn’t meeting anyone at the time.
In a November 2023 interview with The Wall Street Journal, Kelce noted he had some help in connecting with Swift later down the line.
“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner… I had somebody playing Cupid,” he said.
Kelce added that Swift reached out to him, leading to their first date in New York. He later confirmed on The Pat McAfee Show that the date took place around one month before Swift’s first appearance at a Chiefs game that September.
Swift also opened up about the relationship in a December interview with TIME.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said.
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” Swift added.
Will Taylor Swift attend the Super Bowl?
The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to face off in the NFL championship game tonight.
Should the Chiefs win, it will be the team’s third year in a row taking home the trophy. Swift was notably in attendance at Allegiant Stadium last year, and it appears she will be cheering on Kelce once again.
Earlier this week, Jason Kelce shared in an interview with People that many of the brothers’ family members will be coming to watch the game.
“I mean, I don’t want to speak for everybody, but I think obviously, our whole family. I believe, obviously Trav and Taylor, and his family and his friends,” he said.
Super Bowl LIX will take place at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time.
