North Texas gymnast becomes first ever HBCU athlete to earn a perfect score

Fisk University junior Morgan Price made history with the first-ever perfect 10 in HBCU history.

PHILADELPHIA — A North Texas gymnast made history in perfect fashion.

On Saturday night, Morgan Price became the first ever HBCU gymnast to score a perfect 10.

Price trained in Coppell at Texas Dreams Gymnastics and had a successful run at Coppell High School. Price was initially set to compete at the University of Arkansas, but instead joined Nashville HBCU Fisk University, who had just established the first NCAA-level gymnastics program at an HBCU.

At a meet at Temple University in Philadelphia, Price dominated the uneven bars, scoring that perfect score.

This isn’t Price’s first time setting new heights for gymnastics in HBCU. In her sophomore year, she was the first-ever national champion in gymnastics from an HBCU. Her excellence in competition has made her a renowned ambassador for historically Black colleges and universities.
