SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have named the two officers involved in last week’s fatal downtown shooting while attempting to recover a stolen vehicle.
The department said Officer Aaron Coronado and Officer Jimmy Nance were the two officers who opened fire at the stolen vehicle during the chase.

Coronado has five years of service with SAPD and Nance has three years of service, police said.
The shooting and subsequent car fire happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of North Flores and West Commerce streets.
SAPD said multiple officers attempted to pull over the stolen car with 19-year-old Nathaniel Moreno and 15-year-old Nicholas Rodriguez inside.
The car was reported stolen in the downtown area. Officers requested covert support to follow the vehicle, which eventually left the downtown area, police said.
When the vehicle returned to the downtown area, officers attempted to pull it over and used spike strips.
At Flores and Commerce, officers surrounded the car, but Moreno and Rodriguez refused to stop, police said.
The driver backed up, struck patrol vehicles, hit another parked vehicle, and drove toward officers, police said. Coronado and Nance opened fire more than once, SAPD said.
The car continued down Commerce Street and struck a building before catching fire.
Moreno died at the scene, and Rodriguez was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, SAPD said.
