A woman was hit and killed while she was standing outside her car on Interstate 20, officials said.
ARLINGTON, Texas — One person died after being hit by a truck on Interstate 20 in Arlington, police said.
Officers responded to a crash around 11:33 p.m. Tuesday on I-20 near South Collins Street, Arlington police said in a press release. A woman was found lying unresponsive in the roadway, police said.
Officers found that the woman’s vehicle stalled and she was standing outside of her vehicle in a traffic lane when she and her vehicle were hit by a truck, police said.
The woman died on the scene and the truck driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Due to conditions at the time of the crash, investigators do not think the driver of the Tundra was able to see the car before hitting it, officials said.
No criminal charges have been filed in connection to the crash, the release states. The incident is under investigation and the name of the victim has not been released, police said.
The highway was shut down for four hours Wendesday morning while officials cleared the scene. The highway has since reopened, officials said.
