The good news Thursday? While the bitter cold persisted, it wasn’t causing many issues on the roads, if at all.
DALLAS — North Texas woke up to another day of frigid temperatures on Thursday morning: Temperatures in the low teens and wind chills making it feel below zero across much of the Metroplex.
The good news Thursday? While the bitter cold persisted, it wasn’t causing many issues on the roads, if at all.
Road conditions were dry across North Texas, and the lake-effect snow we saw on Wednesday — that blew snow flurries across Dallas-Fort Worth — wasn’t happening on Thursday morning.
Any slick spots on the roads Thursday likely would have been from sprinklers, water breaks or, in the case of what we saw on Interstate 45, crews battling a fire with water.
On I-45 near Parker Hill Road, south of Dallas, an apparent car fire had shut down the southbound lanes of the highway. As crews battled the fire, it appeared the lanes got slick from the water being used. We’ll monitor and see if that causes any long-term delays on the highway on Thursday.
Other than that, the roads and traffic were mostly in good shape, despite the freezing weather.
