Road Trippin’ Big Bend! Big changes coming to iconic west Texas lodge and restaurant

MARFA, Texas — Get ready to hit the road for a West Texas adventure like no other. Big Bend, with its breathtaking mountain views and a night sky that city lights can’t dim, is calling all nature lovers for the perfect Lone Star escape.

Robert Alvarez, executive director of Visit Big Bend, shared some exciting developments happening in the area.

“The nice thing is the great American outdoors that gave us funding, finally, to actually remodel the restaurant that’s there.” Alvarez said. “Well, I say remodel to tear it down and build a brand new one. That’s not often that that happens. We’re so fortunate that we were selected as one of those parks, and they’re also going to remodel and refurbish to spruce up the hotel there. That’s there as well. So the whole space scenario will undergo a two year project.”

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or just looking for a peaceful getaway, Big Bend promises a memorable journey. So, pack your bags and prepare for an unforgettable road trip to one of Texas’s most stunning destinations.

“Since this is going to have to close the access area, there’s only one way to get up into the Chisos Basin. And, those hikes won’t be available like the Lost Mine in the Window Trail. But you still, like you just showed, showed Santa Elana, the canyon is a gorgeous hike to go into that 1500 foot high wall canyon. You’re looking at Mexico on one side of the Rio Grande. You know, it’s so fun to go to that one. Balanced rock, a great hills over there. Head down to the hot springs on, or even on the historic district, the down and down and towards Rio Grande village. So there’s plenty of other hikes to be, had, actually about 150 miles, if you can believe it, if liking trails in the national park.”
