Sundance Square hosts send-off for Oscart nominee Abraham Alexander

Fort Worth’s Abraham Alexander is nominated for Best Original Song ‘Like a Bird’ from the movie Sing Sing.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth native Abraham Alexander will be in Sundance Square on Thursday night to meet fans and sign autographs before heading to Los Angeles for the upcoming Oscars award ceremony.

North Texas will be well represented at “Hollywood’s biggest night.” Alexander is nominated for Best Original Song for ‘Like a Bird’ from the movie Sing Sing. The film’s writer and director is also from Fort Worth and is nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay. The annual Oscar ceremony will take place Sunday, March 2.

The film is about men in a New York prison finding purpose and redemption through a theater program. Alexander cites a wide variety of musical influences that led him to create his sound, WFAA previously reported.

The celebration will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 21 at 310 Houston Street in Sundance Square. It will feature live music, a Cuban salsa band and Alexander himself, meeting fans and signing records while supplies last. Plus, fireworks!

“This is the celebration you don’t want to miss—let’s show Abraham some love as he heads to the Oscars!” Sundance Square said.
