North Texas driver killed after Jeep crashes into tree and catches fire, police say

 

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Mustang Drive, according to a police news release.

GRAPEVINE, Texas — A driver died after they crashed into a tree and their Jeep caught on fire in Grapevine, police said.

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Mustang Drive, according to a police news release.

Police said a Jeep Wrangler was heading westbound when it went off the road and hit a tree in the median. The Jeep caught fire and was engulfed in flames by the time police officers arrived, police said.

Firefighters then arrived and put the fire out. The driver died at the scene, according to police.

The driver was the only person inside the vehicle. Their identity has not been released yet.

Police are still investigating the crash.
