Commemorating the 100th anniversary of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
WHEREAS, Members of United Way of Metropolitan Dallas are
gathering at the State Capitol on February 26, 2025, to celebrate
the organization’s centennial; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1924 as the Dallas Community Chest,
the nonprofit initially encompassed 10 charter agencies; it
officially joined United Way of America in 1973, and through the
decades, it has worked tirelessly to increase access to education,
financial stability, and health care; today, the organization
serves communities across the North Texas region; and
WHEREAS, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is guided by its
Aspire United 2030 goals, a 10-year plan to improve youth literacy,
increase the number of young adults earning a living wage, and
ensure that affordable, high-quality health care is available to
all North Texans; in keeping with its mission, the organization has
established programs such as Southern Dallas Thrives, the Social
Innovation Lab, and the Data Capacity Building Initiative; and
WHEREAS, Over the past century, United Way of Metropolitan
Dallas has distinguished itself as a force for good in area
communities, and the organization is indeed worthy of recognition
on this special occasion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of United Way
of Metropolitan Dallas and extend to all those affiliated with the
organization sincere best wishes for continued success with their
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the nonprofit as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
