Middle school students gave each other temporary ink tattoos with same needle, district says

Greenville ISD issued a statement about the incident on Thursday, which officials say happened at Travis Intermediate School.

GREENVILLE, Texas — Students at a middle school in North Texas gave each other tattoos using temporary ink with the same needle, according to a district statement.

Greenville ISD said it was aware of the incident, which happened at Travis Intermediate School in Greenville, and teachers assigned to the classrooms where the incident allegedly occurred have been suspended while they conduct an investigation. The district said in a statement posted on social media that “[the teachers’] role in this matter will be reviewed to determine if further disciplinary action is warranted.”

“The District administration strongly condemns the alleged activities and will not tolerate such conduct,” Greenville ISD said. “District Administration will work with law enforcement to identify all students involved in the alleged incident. The District shall abide by state law, District policy, and the District’s Student Code of Conduct and discipline protocols during this process.”

The district also said it will conduct a comprehensive review of Travis Intermediate School to “ensure that the incident in question remains an isolated occurrence and does not happen again” and assured student safety is the district’s top priority.

Greenville PD told WFAA it is not part of the investigation and did not respond to the school. WFAA is working to determine which law enforcement agency the district is working with.
